Mystery Trip and Weather

We have had a great time the past few days. On Wednesday afternoon, we went on our Mystery Trip, which was revealed to be to... Mount Olympus! We split into groups and the girls got to choose which activities they wanted to participate in, choosing from roller coasters, water slides, and go-karts. The counselors supervised each group of girls and everyone had a lot of fun!

Yesterday (Thursday), it got quite warm so we decided to do some bareback riding in the afternoon. It was a lot cooler for the horses to have less tack on. The girls spent the afternoon with their cabin groups, and when they weren't riding, they made some nametags for the horses' stalls and also groomed some of the horses. In the evening, each camper had an option to choose from a variety of activities.

The weather continues to be hot today! All the counselors are on hydration patrol! We've put out extra water coolers and opened Trading Post to get bottled water for anyone who doesn't have a water bottle. We rescheduled our activities for the day to cope with the heat: going on trail rides in the morning allowed us to take advantage of the shady woods. We will be unable to ride this afternoon due to heat indices of 100+! While we want the girls to spend as much time around the horses as possible, we need to keep health concerns for our campers, staff and horses as our first priority. We'll be staying cool by staying inside for much of the afternoon, and venturing outside only to play some water games! It should still be a fun afternoon. We will try to head back to the barn in the evening but will need to see how everyone is holding up under the heat.

Here are some pictures from our time at Mount Olympus:
