Fall Horse Lover's Party!

 Hi Everyone!

We had a great time with our Horse Lover's Party this past Saturday - thanks to everyone that joined us! The weather was beautiful and we got some riding time, grooming, did a pumpkin hunt, went on hayrides, and had a costume contest. Even our pony, Stormy and one of our goats joined in! It was a busy day packed full of fun. Here are a few pictures.

Happy Fall!

Hello everyone!

We hope you are well! The horses have been getting lots of pasture time and are enjoying the grass.

We have been keeping busy with some painting projects, lots of mowing, taking care of the horses, and some Saturday camps. We also had a college group from the UW join us for a retreat - it had been a while since we'd hosted them, so it was nice to be able to have them out!

Thanks to all of the staff and campers that have joined us for our Saturday camps! We've been doing some fun arts and crafts projects, grooming the horses, getting to know the other campers and staff, playing group games,  and riding the horses of course!

Whoopi the barn cat isn't quite sure what to make of the lack of people in camp to give her attention. She likes to come down to the main part of camp and look in the windows until she finds anyone that might come out and pet her!

We have a couple of Girl Scout Horse Lover's Days this month, Kirby's Fall Fun Day, and our Fall Horse Lover's Party at the end of the month. We're staying busy!

The fall colors are beautiful this year - some of the best we've seen in several years, so we are enjoying them! The horses are starting to get shaggy coats - cooler weather must be on the way.

Well, take care and thanks for stopping by to catch up on happenings at camp!

Camp Starts Soon!

 Hi Everyone!

It's been a while since our last update and we wanted to let you know what we've been up to at Hoofbeat!

April and May were busy months for us with a variety of day camps on Saturdays. We had a few Girl Scout Horse Lover's Days, day camps for kids, and our Wilderness First Responder training that we hosted.

We also have been busy mowing, weeding, and getting things ready for camp to open. Thanks to our maintenance crew for all of their hard work!!

The horses have been out doing some mowing of their own! They LOVE their time out in the pastures as you can see in the pictures!

Now it's June and the staff are here this week doing staff training. We have several new staff this summer, including Carla and Isla who joined us from the UK! It's been several years since we had international staff and we're glad to be able to have them with us this summer. We have a great group of staff this summer and we're excited for the summer to get underway.

Our barn cat (Whoopi) likes to come and visit us in the office. Here is a picture of her hard at work the other day!

It's March!!!

Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since our last blog update and we have been busy here at camp!

The horses are really starting to shed their winter coats and they must be itchy, because they have been rolling in the mud. They look a little scruffy right now!

Some days, when it's sunny, they stand around looking like they are asleep on their feet. Other days, they run around playing and being crazy! We have let them out in their pastures a few time so they have some room to run around. The last time we did that, the geldings ran for over an hour (off and on of course). They can tell spring is in the air!

Sometimes we'll let them in the arena to roll and run around too. They go nuts! Even the older horses act like yearlings - they canter around, buck, and play with each other. The funniest have to be our two mini ponies. They do laps around and buck like broncos. It's pretty hilarious to watch.

We've been doing some painting projects in the slower months. We re-painted the tables in the dining hall and re-painted the girls bathroom in Longbranch.

There was a big tree that fell over one of our trails behind the barn, so Ted had to drag it out with the tractor. We cut it up for firewood since we always need more!

In January we had two Wilderness First Responder training clinics that we hosted and we have two more in a couple of weeks. We'll be busy making them yummy food and keeping the fires going in the dining hall and Lodge for them.

In February we had a group of Boy Scouts join us for the weekend and we have another one coming in March.

Day camp has filled up for the summer - normally it fills at the end of March or sometime in April!

We just added a Horse Lover's Day program on Saturday, May 7th and a Pony Fun Day on Saturday, June 4th.

We hope you and your family are well!
