Hello Everyone!
It's been a while
since our last blog update and we have been busy here at camp!
The horses are
really starting to shed their winter coats and they must be itchy, because they
have been rolling in the mud. They look a little scruffy right now!
Some days, when
it's sunny, they stand around looking like they are asleep on their feet. Other
days, they run around playing and being crazy! We have let them out in their
pastures a few time so they have some room to run around. The last time we did
that, the geldings ran for over an hour (off and on of course). They can tell
spring is in the air!
Sometimes we'll
let them in the arena to roll and run around too. They go nuts! Even the older
horses act like yearlings - they canter around, buck, and play with each other.
The funniest have to be our two mini ponies. They do laps around and buck like
broncos. It's pretty hilarious to watch.
We've been doing
some painting projects in the slower months. We re-painted the tables in the
dining hall and re-painted the girls bathroom in Longbranch.
There was a big
tree that fell over one of our trails behind the barn, so Ted had to drag it
out with the tractor. We cut it up for firewood since we always need more!
In January we had
two Wilderness First Responder training clinics that we hosted and we have two
more in a couple of weeks. We'll be busy making them yummy food and keeping the
fires going in the dining hall and Lodge for them.
In February we had
a group of Boy Scouts join us for the weekend and we have another one coming in
March.
Day camp has
filled up for the summer - normally it fills at the end of March or sometime in
April!
We just added a
Horse Lover's Day program on Saturday, May 7th and a Pony Fun Day on Saturday,
June 4th.
We hope you and
your family are well!
