Spring News From Hoofbeat!

Hello from Hoofbeat!

The snow has finally melted and we can see the barn from the lower part of camp (before the view was blocked with mountains of snow......and we do mean mountains!!!). The sun has been warm and the horses seem to be enjoying it more each day. They are really starting to shed now! That must mean spring is here. Yay!
Camp is filling up quickly. Resident camp doesn't have much space left in the June sessions at this point. Day camp has about 20 spots left in most sessions. Sign up soon to get your first choice of dates!
We have added two Mother/Daughter Weekends to our fall calendar. The dates are September 27-29th and October 4-6th. We just opened registration yesterday, but there were lots of sign ups. We expect both weekends to fill quickly.
Our annual Open House will be held Sunday, June 9th this year. It will be from 2-5 pm and everyone is welcome!
We've been posting staff bios so that everyone can get to know our summer staff. So, without further ado, say hi to Elinore!

Hello! My name is Elinore and this is my first summer as a staff member but my third summer at Hoofbeat. I am extremely excited to come back to camp! I am from Glenview, IL and am excited to graduate in the spring and study computer science next fall. Outside of school I love to help my school build sets for shows, trying to bake (emphasis on trying), and goofing around with my horse Barnabee. I can't wait to sing camp songs, play group games, and meet all the new campers! My favorite Hoofbeat horses are Raspberry and Indy. I cannot wait to see everyone this summer!

Hi everyone! My name is Kristina and I am super excited so spend another summer at Hoofbeat!! This will be my 9th summer overall and my 4th as staff/riding instructor. I’m currently finishing my first year at Mount Holyoke College, where I’m studying International Relations and Chinese and probably Economics as well. When I’m not at camp, you can find me riding with my school’s equestrian team, roaming the library, going for a run, or hanging out with my cats. At camp, my favorite things to do are to go on trail rides, make friendship bracelets, and teach riding lessons. My favorite horses are Peter Pan (surprisingly not pictured!) and Shadow! I can’t wait to see everyone at camp this summer! Three months to go!!

Hi everyone! My name is Halley and I'm so excited to be returning to Hoofbeat for another memorable summer! This summer is especially exciting because it will be my 15th summer spent at Hoofbeat since I first came to camp as a day camper! It will also be my 3rd summer working with the CIT program and my 7th as resident camp staff. I'm originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but have spent the last few years in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I completed my bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in speech-language-hearing sciences and psychology. A few of my favorite camp activities include trail rides, theme nights, and cuddling with my favorite camp horses, Scout and Raspberry! I'm so excited for another amazing summer at camp, and I can't wait to see you all there!

Hey everyone! I am SO excited for another great summer at camp!! My name is Kourtney, This will be my 6th year working at Hoofbeat and my 9th summer overall. More staff bios!

Hey everyone! Who’s excited for summer? I sure am. My name is Jasmine and this will be my fourth summer at resident camp, second as Barn Director! I am graduating from South Dakota State University with a degree in Biology in May. You might ask what my plans are after summer but your guess is as good as mine! Recently, my hobbies have included running from my car to the nearest heated building and vise versa, snowshoeing when the temperature is above 0 (all three times this winter), and frequently cuddling up with a mug of hot chocolate. When the snow does melt (it will someday, I promise), I can be found outside rollerblading, running, or kayaking. My favorite activities at camp are stargazing, eating hot popcorn during Trading Post, and playing group games! I’m not-so-patiently waiting to soak up the sun and to be back at camp! See everyone soon!

Hey folks! My name is Violeta, and like everyone else I am impatiently waiting for summer to hurry up and and arrive! I started coming to Hoofbeat as a wee day camper 11 years ago and have been coming back to camp every year since! This will be my 5th year working as staff and 2nd summer as the Program Director for Resident Camp. Right now I am a student at UW-Madison studying Conservation Biology and International Studies. Outside of school I love to go on travel adventures, dance to live music, and snuggle with my furry 4-legged friends. My favorite things at Hoofbeat include (but are definitely not limited to) theme nights, the gorgeous sunsets, and watching the horses being let out after a hard day at work! I'm so excited for all the fun activities in store for this summer. See you all soon!

More staff bios!

Hi all! I’m Sophie and this will be my third summer as resident camp staff, and eighth at Hoofbeat overall! Currently I live in La Crosse, Wisconsin, but I’m originally from Mazomanie! I graduate from high school this spring, and am hoping to study business in the fall. In my free time I love to read, listen to music, spend time outside, and relax with my dogs. You can also often find me in the natural foods aisle at my grocery store, or at my local thrift shop! I’m (literally) counting the days till camp starts up, and I can’t wait to participate in my favorite camp activities (cabin time, ships and sailors, and breakfast) and snuggle with all my favorite horses, especially Kirby and Gandalf! Mainly though I’m looking forward to spending time with all the campers and my fellow counselors, new and familiar faces alike. See you this summer!

Oh hey there! I’m Brooke :) and I’m very excited for summer to start. This summer will be my second summer as staff, but my seventh at Hoofbeat overall. My hometown is Whitefish Bay, WI, but I’m currently a freshman at UW-Madison studying animal science. In my free time, I love going on outdoor adventures, stargazing, going on late night walks around Madison, and cuddling with puppies. I’m so ready for all the fun camp activities, especially trail rides, theme-nights, trading post, and, of course, hanging out with my favorite hoofbeat pony, Pirate. I can’t wait to see everyone this summer!

Hi everyone! My name is Alyssa, and I am so excited for another summer at Hoofbeat! This upcoming summer will be my 11th year at camp, and my 4th summer as staff. I’m currently a freshman at UW-Madison studying Chemistry and Environmental Science. In my free time you can find me grabbing a bite to eat or wandering around Madison in search of a dog to pet. I love everything about camp, but I especially enjoy camper-counselor hunts, teaching riding lessons, and hanging out with my favorite Hoofbeat horse, Shadow! I can’t wait to see everyone in a few months!
