Hello
from Hoofbeat!
We
hope this latest blog update finds you and your family doing well!
We
have had a very mild fall/winter (up until the last week), so we've been able
to get some outside projects done here at camp.
Ted
and the maintenance crew built a shed for our miniature ponies and put new
fencing around their pen. They also moved the gate so that we no longer have to
go through another paddock to get the ponies in and out. The four minis seem to
be liking the fence - they stick their heads between the boards and check out
the geldings living in the pen next door. Most of the time the geldings don't
seem to mind, unless there is food around!
We
recently got 3 new ponies - Poco (a leopard appaloosa), Batman (black gelding),
and Robin (chestnut gelding). Stay
tuned for photos and updates on these new additions.
We
just had Kirby's Christmas Party - thanks to all of the campers and staff that
joined us! It was very cold out, so we moved a few of the planned activities
indoors to try to keep everyone warm enough. The campers enjoyed a candy cane
hunt, arts and crafts, a campfire, riding lessons, mounted games, horse
science, and some quality time with the minis! Here are some pictures of the
staff and campers. (We apologize for not getting photos of all the campers -
the photographer was also teaching riding lessons and didn't get a chance to
get around to all of the groups.)
The
last couple of weekends we've gotten
snow, so we've been busy plowing, getting hay moved to our feeding spots, and
the horses all tucked in. The forecast is calling for another snowstorm this
coming weekend and we are curious to see
if that will hold true. If it does, we should have plenty of snow for sledding
at Christmas Camp this year!
Take care and have a very Merry Christmas!
Ted,
Mary, and all of the Hoofbeat staff and horses
