Week 6!
What a busy Monday it has been! We started off this week by learning about safety around horses, how to groom a horse and how to saddle a horse in Horse Science. In Horse Fun, campers went on a scavenger hunt around the barn. They found things like where we keep the Western Saddles, where the Mares live, and where the hay is stored. For our riding lessons, everyone reviewed Hoofbeat's 5 S's: Starting, Stopping, Steering, Spacing, and Squirreling. These are important things to remember to ensure each riding lesson runs smoothly. Campers also worked on their steering and got to practice a trot!
Down the hill, campers have three other activity rotations: Arts and Crafts, Skill Surprise, and Sports. In Arts and Crafts today, everyone made paper plate butterflies. They look gorgeous. In Skill Surprise, campers visited our two Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Pip and Pop, and got to do some Line Dancing! In Sports, we played some ice breakers, and each group got to play a different game like Twizzle or SPUD!
We will be posting more photos here throughout the week, so make sure to keep checking! You can also follow our Instagram and TikTok: @hoofbeatridgecampswi to see other camp updates!!
