Wrapping up Week 6!

Wrapping up Week 6!!

Due to the heat on Wednesday, we ran a heat schedule similar to Tuesday, where the campers completed all of their normal rotations before lunch with shortened time slots. For riding, riders practiced our 5 S's, and some groups got to trot. In Horse Science, they learned about the different feeds and nutrition that horses need to stay healthy. In Horse Fun, campers made stall tags for their favorite horses! Down the hill in Arts and Crafts, campers got creative and made movie posters from cut-up magazines. In Skill Surprise, they used markers, coffee filters, and water to make Chromatography flowers. And for Sports, they played a camp favorite, Night at the Museum! After lunch, the campers got to cool off in the Mazomaine Pool!!
On Thursday and Friday, we were unable to run our regular program due to the unhealthy air quality. Instead, we planned days full of indoor activities! On Thursday, camp started off the day with bingo, indoor games, and painting cardboard fans! Right before lunch, we also fit in some balloon games, carnival games, and finished the Chromatography flowers from the skill surprise the day before! In the afternoon, we were able to bring our miniature horses into the barn lounge for grooming! Campers were also doing some movie trivia inside our lodge, and then they got to complete our tie-dye indoors as well!
On Friday, kept the fun going! This week’s theme was “movies,” so we had a soft start to our Friday morning by watching a classic - High School Musical! It was so fun seeing everyone sing along to the songs! After that, we did a few indoor rotations before lunch. The rotations were Hoofbeat Spa, camouflage butterflies, and friendship bracelets! All of these indoor activities allowed the campers to have a relaxing morning while maintaining safety. In the afternoon, campers did a fun STEM activity- egg drops! The campers really enjoyed coloring their eggs and watching the staff drop them from the long branch balcony!! When they weren’t doing that, the groups got to express their creativity! Each group got assigned a horse and got to make their posters in Arts and Crafts. During poster making, each group also got the chance to go to our camp store, Trading Post!! Then they got to spend some time with the horses, decorating their stalls and the horses themselves! The campers had a blast painting the horses' manes!!

Even though the last two days of camp looked different from what we may have hoped, we are happy that we were still able to complete fun activities indoors while being safe!! Everyone had a great time, and it was so much fun having everyone at camp despite the weather!!!
