 Welcome to Week 8!

Happy Tuesday! We are having a great week this week! Yesterday we played lots of icebreaker games to get to know our groups in Sports! In Skill Surprise, for Small Animal Week, we had an amazing visit from a staff's dog, Jack! Jack is a rough collie who loves the attention he gets from campers. In Arts and Crafts, campers made paper plate astronauts to match our Outer Space theme this week! Up at the barn, campers had their first riding lessons. They learned how to steer, stop, walk, and keep safe spacing in the ring. In Horse Fun, campers designed stall tags to decorate the horses' stalls! In Horse Science, they learned about safety around horses as well as how to groom and saddle a horse! We had pretty hot weather on Monday, so our schedule was adjusted in order to get all riding done in the morning. In the afternoon, campers got to play water games to cool themselves off, bathe the horses to help them cool off, play Minute-to-Win-It games, and play dog trivia in honor of Jack's visit!

Today, campers learned about proper stable management! In Horse Fun, they then got to design their own barns. It was so cool to see what everyone came up with! In Riding, campers continued to work on their steering and spacing, but at the walk and the trot today! Down the hill in Skill Surprise, we had two snakes, a tortoise, and a bearded dragon to see! Everyone got to learn about them and hold them (if interested)! In Sports, campers played Alien Alley" or "Toxic River!" In Arts and Crafts, campers made yarn pom-pom planets and turned them into mini solar systems! It was a great day!
