Welcome to Week 9!
We have had a great start to our week! On Monday, groups learned about safety, saddling and grooming for horses. In Horse Fun, campers got to groom our two miniature ponies, Luna and Junebug. In everyone's riding lessons, they learned about the 5s: Starting, Stopping, Steering, Spacing, and Squirreling (dismounting). Down the hill, campers played icebreaker games to get to know their groups. In Skill Surprise, they learned about different types of birds and trees and played a spin-off game of Celebrity Horse, "Celebrity Bird!" In Arts and Crafts, to match our Nature theme for the week, campers made nature self-portraits using things they found outside!
Today, campers made pinecone bird feeders in Arts and Crafts, searched for a Geocache hidden around camp, and played kickball! It was a great day down the hill! Up at the barn, campers learned about the different colors, breeds and markings horses often are/have. In Horse Fun, they wrote out who would win for different horse superlatives. The camp winners will be revealed tomorrow! Campers continued to work on their 5s throughout their riding lessons today at the walk and the trot! Thanks for a great first two days!
