Welcome to Week 10!
Hello and happy Tuesday! How on earth are we already on our final week of camp! This week is Equestrian week, so our activities are more horse-focused. On Monday, campers had their normal riding lessons in the morning, working on overall position and steering. They went on a more advanced scavenger hunt around camp which included finding different markings and breeds around camp! For the craft, campers made horseshoe suncatchers! In the afternoon, campers rode bareback!! It was so fun to feel our horses' movement without a saddle. We also learned how to tack up horses in both the English and Western saddles. Finally, campers did tack races with each other, trying to see who could tack up the fastest.
On Tuesday, we experienced some thunderstorms in the morning. The safety of our campers, horses and staff is our highest priority, so we adjusted our morning schedule to keep campers out of the barn. Instead, everyone participated in a Horse Escape Room! This was such a fun activity. Campers also made a horse collage jar with magazines and Modge Podge. The final morning rotation was walking different patterns the campers hope to try on horseback this week! In the afternoon, everyone had their normal riding lessons where they worked on various skills at the walk and the trot. Campers also were tested on their horse and Hoofbeat knowledge by playing different Jeopardy games. Finally, campers played another pattern game, this time, they were trying to guess the patterns as a group! Thanks for such a fun day!
