Wrapping up Week 9!!

We had another amazing week here at Hoofbeat! The horses are sad that it is our last week of normal camp, but they cannot wait for next week! On Thursday of this week, we played water games in Sports to keep cool! In Skill Surprise, campers attempted an obstacle course. Some tried guiding their group mates through while blindfolded!! In Arts & Crafts, everyone got to tie-dye. All of the patterns turned out great!! Up at the barn, campers had their riding lessons as usual, continuing to work on their steering and position at the walk and the trot. In Horse Science, we learned about different types of Horse Sports, like jumping, eventing, and barrel racing. In Horse Fun, everyone went on a scavenger hunt around the barn searching for things like the barn cat, Whoopi, our barn directors, and different horses' herds!!

Today, we experienced high temperatures, so for the safety of our campers, horses and staff, we decided to complete all of our normal activities before 1pm. In the morning, we played capture the flag, learned how to line dance, and made secret magazine messages! Up at the barn, campers made stall tags for their favorite horses in Horse Fun, learned about first aid and lameness in Horse Science, and showed off all of their improved riding skills in their riding lessons! In the afternoon, we played water games to cool off from the heat, bathed some horses to help keep them cool, and then everyone got to visit the camp store! After wrapping things up there, campers gathered on the lower-A field and played some large group games! It was so nice to see different groups interacting with one another, and we appreciated everyone's flexibility. We hope you all had a great week, and we can't wait to see you again soon!!
