Update! Weather, Activities, Pictures & Demos!

Hi Everyone! So, the past couple of days have been full of fun and adventures! We had a construction afternoon, where the girls had to construct bridges, towers & boats out of random objects found around the camp! They loved the different challenges and had a blast! We went bareback riding, where the girls got to know the horses even better through riding with no saddles! We even went on a huge scavenger hunt all over camp, where the girls had to take pictures of themselves doing tasks and in different locations, as well as collecting and creating fun items like a hoof clipping and a portrait of Ted and Taco, our mule! Everyone is having a fabulous time, and keeping healthy and happy! Everyone is hyrdated and covered in sunscreen to protect us from the hot heat, and with the hot afternoons, we wound down the riding and stayed in the air conditioning, picking horse things up again in the evening when it cooled down!

Hi All!
So, we've had a grand start to the week, the kids are having a lot of fun so far, and we're all getting to know our horses and camp-mates super well! Yesterday, the weather was a little toasty, so the horses and girls needed a break from the heat - so we played some watergames! The girls loved being able to cool down and relax a bit! We finished off the evening going to the pool!

Today, the heat and humidity has broken - yey - but instead we have rain! We are fitting inour riding, which is fabulous! We are having our horse science and 'downhill' skills as normal this morning! We will keep you updated! Everyone is keeping happy and healthy!

Weather Update & Pictures

Hey guys! Thanks for your patience, for some reason blogspot won't upload the pictures! You can find them Here on Facebook!

We've had a fabulous few days at camp! We've been on trail rides, done some tack cleaning, and even played some awesome downhill games! We played some water games in the hot heat on Monday, and went to the Kalahari on Tuesday! Everyone is keeping happy and healthy, and having a grand time!

We finally got rain last night (woohoo!) and it was quite a lot! The plants and grass were very happy, but we stayed inside and played some scatters to keep out of the weather. The wind picked up a bit, and we lost power for a little while (don't worry, it came back on by 10pm!), but we made a party out of it, and the kids loved singing campfire songs, and playing games like DR.Know It All, and Mafia! We also painted our nails by flashlight and played some board games! We all had a lot of fun on our adventure! Everyone is fine and happy, and we are resuming normal scheduling today!

Hello from Hoofbeat!

Hi there! Well, we have been having just so much fun, we've had hardly any time to update you guys! On Tuesday afternoon, we went on some trail rides, and we played a fantastic new game called Under Seige! The camp was divided into 4 teams, each with their own territory on camp! Each team had a General, who kept their flag in their back pocket, a collection of Defenders (to defend their territory) and some chasers (to chase the others' flags!) The aim of the game was to capture all the flags and take over all the territories! The girls loved it!

On Wednesday afternoon, we did some mounted games! The girls loved playing games like 'red light green light' and 'simon says'! In the evening we had our fabulous theme night: It was HOOFBEAT HOMECOMING! The girls had a fantastic time getting ready for the big game: MAIN HERD vs ROADSIDE! They learned football plays, had an Ice Cream Social, and even made campaign posters for which horses should be Homecoming King & Queen! They all voted, and after the big game, Diego & Buttercup were announced as our royal horses!

On Thursday, the girls got excited for Demos, and turned in their Demonstration Horse requests! We spent the afternoon planning on what we would do in our demos, as well as learning about some Hoofbeat History! After dinner, we had some fun back at the barn doing Barn Scatters! The girls got to choose what they did, whether it was grooming, horse trivia or celebrity horse!

We have had a fun-packed week so far! We can't wait to show you what we've learned!

Yee-Haw! Rodeo Day!

Hello there! We are having a great time here at Hoofbeat Ridge right now! The girls had their morning schedules today, where each girl has 1 hour of riding, 1 hour of horse science, and 1 hour of down-the-hill! This week, their down-the-hill choices were Arts & Crafts, Skill Surprise & Nature! The girls had a blast getting their first horses of the week, and learning new things about the creatures they love! We made some awesome crafts in A&C today, and the nature crew made leaf-rubbing collages! Skill surprise is a new thing everyday, so the girls try something new!
This afternoon, the girls had a Rodeo up at the barn! We did some pole bending, some barrel racing & some roping! The girls loved trying out the new games, and felt like really cowgirls learning to rope cattle (well, in this case, fence-posts!) The horses here love mounted games, and everyone had a fabulous time!
Tonight, we plan on playing an all-camp game of Under Seige! It's a great game like capture the flag, with 4 teams! We will be back with pictures soon!

Thanks for checking in!

Happy 4th July!!

We had an absolutley fantastic day here at Hoofbeat Ridge! We did our riding classes in the morning, but it got pretty hot pretty fast, so we decided to give the horses and campers a break in the afternoon! We celebrated 4th of July in air conditioning - woo! We did some 'Patriotic Crafts', some 'Freedom Fun & Games' and some 'Liberty Tie Dye'! The girls had a grand time making red, white and blue crafts, like noise makers and windsocks! And creating their fabulous tie dye attire! We even did some awesome facepainting - I hear there were a few tigers prowling around on camp!

We had a great dinner courtesy Ted, the camp director, and Molly, one of our cooks! Yummy chicken and corn!! We then packed up and headed to the pool in Blue Mounds! The girls loved jumping into the deep end, swimming around underwater and just cooling off! We ended the night by having a little trip to Bringham Park to watch the sunset - so pretty! The girls were in awe of the wonderful site, and were so happy they were singing classic camp songs on the bus home - I even think a bit of One Direction slipped in there, too! We have some great singers here at Hoofbeat! :)

Thanks for checking in! Happy 4th of July!
